A Confession
My dear Skepticals, I have a confession to make.
I have to admit that I have always regarded the Global Warmers as being unreasonable and incapable of understanding Aristotelian logic. As for the syllogism, that was completely beyond them. I prided myself on being able to distinguish a ‘safe’ conclusion from an ‘unsafe’ one, of which that ex-Presidential candidate – you know whom I mean – was clearly incapable.
I confess, yes, I admit that like all human beings, I have not acted from reason, I have not acted from my ‘inner content’, my jiwa or anything noble and quintessential like that, - but purely from a gut feeling. Something in me just found the Global Warmers nauseous!
I guess that a Confession is nothing if not followed by sincere Repentance, so I have been reading for penance the website of the Met Office. I have to thank my colleagues Robert Copcutt, Max Potter and also my old friend Abdullah Pope (he of the Hilltop Farm Commune in Perth, Australia) for finally bringing me to my senses!
Although the Troposphere is vast, and though the entire Greenhouse Gases together only comprise 1% of the total atmosphere, I have been forced to admit that those gases conspire together to keep the Earth, our beloved Planet, warm. Without that 1%, all the lovely warmth from the sun would bounce off and rebound into outer space doing nobody any good at all. We would all be living in igloos, even in the tropics, that is, if we could survive at all.
Because of those Greenhouse Gases we are getting a lot too warm, so they say – I have not noticed it too much here in Farnborough, where I am sitting with the central heating full on and in my overcoat – why the whole world, everywhere, all over will soon be 2°C hotter, and where would we all be then?
I am telling you, fellow Skeptics, you should really read that website and it will open your eyes. You will realise that though the Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere is a mere 0.0385 of the whole, it has an undue influence not just on the weather, but on climate. You may have asked yourselves, as I have often enough, just what climate really is, and if you read this website you will get the answer. It is just the average of the weather in a particular region. Is that right? I promise you, it will open your eyes and will bring you to your knees.
Of course this is not the whole story, it is not just the CO2 content that is doing the damage, but the man-made portion of it. So although the man-made portion is only some 0.001% of the atmosphere (sorry, Max corrected me – some 0.005%) it is just that that is causing the Globe to get hotter and hotter - thank you, Max Potter!
The consequences of this overheating are so dire – well this is what has converted me – it is this that has decided me, well almost, to beg my old friend Abdullah, if he would allow me - to join him on this Hilltop Farm, which I have called his Ark. Truly he is a veritable Noah.
You Skeptics, my erstwhile boon companions, you do not realise the wrath that is to come. There is no escape, unless, unless, unless…
The Arctic could melt, gigantic floods could come, much greater then the formation of the Black Sea, and every sort of disaster could befall mankind.
Is there then no hope? Surely that heavenly guide, the Met Office, held out some hope, and gave us a solution to this problem? Alas, not so, not really. We could change few light bulbs and turn down our thermostats, and should we get colder we can thank Global Warming.
Governments from all over the world are meeting soon in Copenhagen to reduce the anthropomorphic emissions of this CO2. Although the total man-made CO2 is but a trace of a trace, I have to tell you the truth, the unvarnished truth, as I always have done with you, my boon companions – that cutting emissions by 20%, cutting emissions by 40%, cutting emissions by100% - just will not do.
Should we close down the entire industries of the world, should we renounce our motor cars, should we eschew air travel in particular, if we should sit on a Hilltop and pray and await the end of the world, shall I tell you what?
It will make no difference at all! Climate will carry on changing!

Those Anthropomorphic Global Warmers who cry for ever more restrictions on ‘emissions’ of CO2, are to some degree logical. If indeed the science is settled, as they claim, if the disasters that they foretell are to arrive, then there is only one logical outcome of their arguments. In order to ‘Save the Planet’ it will be necessary to shut down the entire world economies and all the transport systems. No trains, no cars, no aviation, no exploration for oil, no burning of coal, no combustion of any fossil fuels, and massive unemployment, why! this is the logical outcome for the presagers of doom.
They who have sown the wind, Vice-president Al Gore, Senator Kerry, Gordon Brown, Prince Charles, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Bank Ki Moon, Chancellor Merkels, Kevin Rudd and Members of Parliament from both sides, they who have sown the wind must reap the whirlwind.
